It doesn't matter if the Z-LASIK flap is easier to lift. It is also easier to displace (see my blog 7/2/2010). Safety is the main reason to do a blade-free LASIK and the IntraLase (iLASIK) is the safest way to create a flap. It is also safer even years later (holds up to trauma better)

Hi,

I am looking at having lasik done and am currently researching these two lasers (offered by the two clinics I am considering).

According to Ziemer: "The Ziemer Femto LDV laser's unique method of overlapping low-energy laser spots makes the corneal flap easier to lift with no manipulation of the cornea, say proponents of the system. The Femto LDV produces no inflammation and does not create an opaque bubble layer (OBL) caused by gases injected into the deep stroma of the cornea during the femtosecond laser treatment — a phenomenon caused by other femtosecond lasers that can lead to flap problems and affect visual outcomes after surgery."

I notice this article was written last year. Do you still consider Intralase to be the superior?

Thanks,
